We gently use tiny "princess pins" during a treatment to comfortably balance the body's meridians....
WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of inserting very fine sterile filiform needles into the skin at strategic points to relieve pain and treat diseases. It is part of a complete medical system which originated in China over 3,000 years ago. This medical system is composed of acupuncture, herbal medicine, Chinese massage (Tuina), exercise and nutritional recommendations.
The traditional explanation for acupuncture is based on the idea that Qi (pronounced chee) or energy flows around in channels throughout the body. When energy is blocked or weakened, disease can be the end result. By gently stimulating acupuncture points with hair-thin, sterile, disposable pins, energy pathways are opened, allowing the body's energy to flow freely through the organ systems and meridians. Through this process, acupuncture taps into the body’s innate ability to heal itself by promoting a state of harmony and a resulting sense of well-being.
Generally acupuncture does not hurt. The 'pins' are quite tiny, and patients are often surprised at how relaxed they feel following a session. The best aspect of acupuncture is the result, a happier, healthier YOU!
